7 simple ways to incorporate the Bible into our homeThe Christian life goes far beyond Sunday morning or other meetings with the congregation. It is easy to honor God as a family; reading, listening, and thinking about the application of His Word from the chair or pew when everyone is (usually) on their best behavior. Just as we eat at least three meals a day and strive to consume enough water to keep our bodies healthy, we must strive to incorporate the Bible into our home to support our family. Allow me to share 7 simple ways to incorporate the Bible into our home today, which do not include paintings with verses on the walls, although this also has its place and benefit in our home. Consider your family situationBefore sharing these simple ways, I want to keep in mine that everyone’s family situation is probably different. So you must consider the particularities of your family, and make the necessary adjustments. If your husband is not a believer, these things will not be a priority for him; Even so, you can practice them with caution and being able to bless him as well. Likewise, if you are a single mother, you will have more responsibility than if you have your husband exercising spiritual leadership over your family. If you are married, I invite you to share these ideas with your husband and, in love, encourage him if necessary so that he can begin to apply them with you. You will also have to adjust some depending on whether you have children at home or not, and their ages; this will help you set realistic expectations for each practice. 7 simple ways to incorporate the Bible into our homeNow let’s look at the ideas and let me know in the comments which ones you already use and what this looks like in your home. 1. Make your quiet time a priorityWe have many responsibilities to fulfill, but we must make a priority our time in the Word and prayer. In addition to having all the benefits for our personal lives. We will be modeling for our children and other family members the importance that should be given to the Word as an individual. If you need a guide to grow in your devotional time, you can read more here and download the guide below. 2. Establish a family devotional timeBefore you start to feel anxious about what to do, stop. By this, I mean being intentional about setting aside time for all the family members, to read the Bible, worship, and pray together. According to the age of your family, determine the duration, how many verses to read, etc. In our family, we usually do it during breakfast, on days when we are not all there at this time, then we do it at night. We read a portion of the Bible, meditate on it, pray for the needs of family, church, friends and sing the chorus of a worship song or a hymn. I want to remind you something, at the beginning of establishing this practice it will be difficult for everyone, but do not give up. As time goes by, it will get easier.
